Whitney Clarke, B.A.Whitney is a second-year PhD student in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Illinois. In May 2022, she graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Concentration in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and a Minor in Black Women's Studies. Whitney’s research interests include the mental health implications of interlocking oppressions, especially within the lives of Black women, social justice advocacy, culturally competent practices, and racial healing and coping among BIPOC individuals and communities. As a McNair Scholar, she explored coping strategies utilized by Black women dealing with discrimination. Whitney’s clinical interests center the use of empirically supported, culturally competent practices with underserved communities.

Richmond Hayes, M.A.Richmond Hayes is a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Counseling Psychology Program, working under the guidance of Dr. Helen Neville. His research interests lie at the intersection of mental health, the Black experience, and the criminal legal system. His clinical interests include concerns related to racial-ethnic-cultural identity, men’s issues, and substance use/addiction. Prior to joining the Counseling Psychology Program, Richmond completed his B.S. in Psychology with a minor in the Administration of Justice at Howard University and earned his M.A. in Forensic Psychology from The George Washington University. Upon graduation, Richmond worked as a Pathways Intern at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Criminal Division.

Ravon Pittman, B.A.Ravon is a second-year PhD student in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Illinois. Prior to joining the TRIAD Lab, he earned a B.A. in Psychology from Oakwood University. Broadly, his research aims to explore how psychological trauma impacts Black and/or African American boys and men. More specifically, he is interested in creating and implementing culturally informed interventions that mitigate the harmful impact of trauma and promote positive growth and development. Outside of Academia, Ravon enjoys listening to music, baking, watching shows/films, and a nice cup of coffee or tea.
